Executive Director Letter
W. Kamau Bell was our hero last year. His disarming charm
and kind smile puts a fresh face on difficult conversations
and civil discourse. As Kamau ran around our luncheon
talking and taking pictures with guests, you could feel his
warmth and genuine spirit.
Taping into that spirit was a gift, but there were other gifts
last year too. From the acquisition of a 7-unit property in
Redwood City from owners committed to keeping their
tenants in place and the donation of 4-bedroom home
in Menlo Park for our Self Sufficiency families, to the
expansion of our affordable housing property management
division and the launch of compliance services, our housing
first agenda helped our community like never before.
Our expanded services meant more housing opportunity
and less housing insecurity county wide. Being able to tell
our story through involvement with the County’s Home for
All initiative and with our Measure K funded marketing
campaign, helped us to bring housing opportunities to
1,400 people and referral services to another 3,500. A gift
to us all.
Fondly,
Kate Comfort Harr, Executive Director
