Dr. Nadine Burke Harris
Annual Luncheon Keynote Speaker!
A huge thank you to California’s first-ever Surgeon General, Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, for her phenomenal keynote speech! Dr. Burke Harris is a leading expert in trauma-informed care, a critical principle to the future of HIP Housing’s programs.
Former U.S. Congresswoman Jackie Speier has served the residents of San Mateo County for over 40 years as a County Supervisor, State Assemblywoman, State Senator and member of the U.S. House of Representatives for almost 15 years. Jackie was a fabulous MC and we cannot thank her enough!
In her keynote speech, Dr. Burke Harris spoke about the importance of addressing the root causes of health and housing issues with a trauma-informed approach.

Meet Iris!
Luncheon goers were also joined by Iris, a HIP Housing Self Sufficiency Program client and former foster youth.
Iris is a remarkable young woman who came to HIP Housing through StarVista.
She now strives to help other former foster youth and will soon begin a nursing school program.
Thank you for sharing your story with us Iris!
Special thanks to Grupo Danza Colibrí!
