Self-Sufficiency
How It Works
Applicants Must:

  •  
  • Have a well-constructed plan of education and career development that will enable them to achieve self-reliance within the program time frame

  •  
  • Be over 18 years of age or an emancipated minor

  •  
  • Be receiving, eligible for, or recently transitioned off AFDC/TANF/CALWORKS


    What is the application process?

    Interested heads of household can call HIP Housing and request a brief phone prescreening to ensure that they meet eligibility criteria. A letter of reference from your counselor, case manager or instructor is required. An interview will be scheduled to complete an extensive application and essay-type questionnaire.

    When personal references are received, credit and tenancy checks will be conducted.

    An independent selection committee comprised of community representatives reviews applications.
