HIP Housing’s mission is to ‘invest in human potential’ not just put roofs over heads. This opens the way to innovative and successful approaches and keeps us focused on the families and individuals we serve. I am honored to contribute to such an effective and heartfelt organization.

LaTisa Brooks
HIP Housing Board Member

As an entrepreneur, LaTisa Brooks has owned and operated Piccadilly Catering and Event Solutions since 2007. Prior to that, she co-led a 400-person security operations team for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at San Francisco International Airport. Within that role, she established and led an elite special task force with security oversight for non-commercial passengers and diplomats. She is a Bay Area native and has lived in Foster City for 20 years, where she has raised her three sons. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also loves listening to music, attending concerts, and exploring outdoor adventures.

“Safe and secure housing provides a gateway to doing well in every other area of life.”

Aaron Aknin
HIP Housing Board Member

Aaron Aknin has been an urban planner in San Mateo County for the past two decades, and has held Planning Director roles in several Peninsula cities. He was also the Assistant City Manager in Redwood City. While in these roles, he oversaw the review and development of over 5,000 new homes, including hundreds of affordable units. Aaron also worked closely with City Councils, Planning Commissions, businesses, developers, neighborhood groups, non-profit organizations, and many other involved residents.

As an urban planner, and as a Peninsula native, housing policy and the creation of affordable homes are very meaningful to me.
