HIP Housing Works with Stanford University on a New Information and Referral Program

July 2021

HIP Housing is working with a team of graduate and undergraduate students from Stanford University on a new Information and Referral Program! This program would add capacity for HIP Housing to provide ongoing support to the 3,000 people who contact us every year for affordable housing information and resources.

For decades, HIP Housing has helped people access affordable housing opportunities and other essential services. Many of these inquiries are from people who are not yet housing ready, or who have no idea what the housing landscape is like in San Mateo County. We provide information and referrals, but currently only have limited capacity to follow up with these callers.

The Stanford team is helping us prepare a case statement and business plan that we can use to apply for funding to launch an Information and Referral Program. Follow our blog at hiphousing.org/hip-blog to stay up to date as we take this new initiative from idea to reality!

“The Stanford team created a database tool to help our staff better track and follow-up with community members in need. It could not have come at a better time as we’re in the process of migrating to a new and improved database.”
